Stock Photography Journey – March 2012

Another month is over so here are the March 2012 statistics. March was a good month with strongest downloads so far.

To summarize, I have images offered through 21 stock photography websites at this time, even though I am considering not maintaining all twenty – time will tell (links to most are offered on the right side of the page).

The nine (9) websites with sales this month were:

Shutterstock

Dreamstime

123RF

Fotolia

CanStockPhoto

Deposit Photo

PhotoDune

BigStockPhoto

iSignStock

And here come the charts… (click on each for larger view)

The Bottom Line – Total Revenue

This includes income from image sales and any other bonuses and referral revenue. What is the bottom line for March 2012? The total comes to $31.89, up from $13.79 in February and $9.89 in January. The increase is mostly due to more downloads – 49 in March compared to 36 in February and 26 in January. The non-subscription downloads which pay more have also increased.

Number of Image Downloads

Total of 49 downloads this month – up from 36 in the previous month. This is the absolute number of downloads. One would expect this number to go up over time as more images are added to the portfolio.

Earnings from Image Sales

Total of $31.89 this month up from $13.79 in the previous month.  Absolute earnings from all images available for sale. Shutterstock continues to be the biggest earner.

Portfolio Size

This is the total count of images available for sale. The variances in the size of the portfolio is mostly due to the speed with which various stock photography websites process uploads and how strict they are in their acceptance criteria – see the Approval Ratio below.

  1. Keep it up – you are making good progress! Didn’t know you were NoVa based? Were you down in DC today for the Space shuttle flight?
