Another month is over so here are the April 2012 statistics. April was not as strong as March for me, mostly due to fewer higher priced on demand downloads on Shutterstock . The cumulative sales this year to date are $71.22, over half – $39.20 from Shutterstock. The second biggest earner year to date is Dreamstime at $10.64 for image sales and additional $5 in referral income.
To summarize, I have images offered through 21 stock photography websites at this time, even though I am considering not maintaining all twenty – time will tell (links to most are offered on the right side of the page).
And here come the monthly charts… (click on each for larger view)
The Bottom Line – Total Revenue
This includes income from image sales and any other bonuses and referral revenue. What is the bottom line for March 2012? The total comes to $15.65, down from $31.89 in March but up from $13.79 in February and $9.89 in January. The downloads decreased slightly from 44 in March to 40 in April (compared to 36 in February and 26 in January). The drop in revenue was mostly due to lower sales per download ration.
Number of Image Downloads
Total of 40 downloads this month – down from 44 in the previous month. This is the absolute number of downloads. One would expect this number to go up over time as more images are added to the portfolio.
Earnings from Image Sales
Total of $15.65 this month down from $31.89 in the previous month. Absolute earnings from all images available for sale. Shutterstockcontinues to be the biggest earner and Dreamstime sales returned to the January levels after two weaker months.
Portfolio Size
This is the total count of images available for sale. The variances in the size of the portfolio is mostly due to the speed with which various stock photography websites process uploads and how strict they are in their acceptance criteria.
